To ensure the delivery of an effective quality service to tenants requiring intensive housing management support, primarily people with mental health problems, people with a learning disability and those with physical and sensory disabilities.

To provide day-to-day supervision and support to a team of Housing Support Officers and team secretaries

To participate in the formulation and updating of procedures for the department ensuring adequate written instructions and training are provided for staff

To promote tenant participation and to participate in scheme monitoring/audits

To service and provide reports to Contract Monitoring Group meetings linked to a range of supported housing schemes

To be aware of the changing needs of vulnerable client groups receiving services from the Association.








·         To ensure high quality housing related support services are delivered in accordance with agreed individual plans and to minimise disruption to services in the event of staff illness and shortages

·         To encourage and promote service user involvement utilising the services of advocates/carers where appropriate.  To work with the Association's Community Involvement team to develop new participative and consultation initiatives to meet the range of needs of supported housing tenants.

·         To ensure a fair allocation of lettings to void properties is made in accordance with agreed criteria for each scheme and that void levels are maintained within the Associations targets. 

·         To liaise with the Maintenance Department in respect of planned maintenance programmes ensuring tenant choice and value for money are maximised

·         To undertake selected scheme enhancements on a programmed basis as directed by the Supported Housing Manager.

·         To monitor annual scheme revenue budgets and ensure service expenditure is maintained within them, liaising with the relevant Finance Personnel to ensure relevant revenue grants are claimed.  To develop a planned approach to scheme furniture replacements to ensure standards are maintained and value for money achieved.

·         To work within the Association's agreed policies in respect of recruitment staff discipline, equal opportunities, health and safety and confidentiality.

·         To ensure new members of staff undertake an induction programme which provides them with adequate training and knowledge of the Association's policies and procedures to carry out their new role.

  • To line manage staff members ensuring that:

v  performance objectives are set and monitored

v  regular One 2 One meetings are undertaken

v  workloads are planned, co-ordinated and reviewed ensuring the efficient use of resources

v  performance & development reviews are undertaken

v  identification of training needs are undertaken and appropriate solutions found

v  regular team meetings are held

·         To provide services and written reports to Contract Monitoring Group meetings held at regular intervals in respect of each Supported Housing Scheme.

·         To ensure effective communication with statutory and voluntary agents providing or funding services to our tenants

·         To represent Aldwyck at seminars, conferences and publicity events as required

·         To identify supported housing need through attendance at specific client group forums and to discuss these needs with the Supported Housing Manager.

·         To ensure rental income is maximised in accordance with agreed scheme budgets and Association's rent setting policy and that tenancies in respect of new schemes are issued within agreed timescales to minimise rent loss.

·         To ensure rent arrears are minimised in line with the Association's targets and policy including the supervision of legal and court action where necessary

·         To be aware of the changing needs of the client groups the Association is providing services to and to make recommendations to the Association of any changes of policy required to be in line with national and local policies and good practice.

·         Under the direction of the Supported Housing Manager, to review procedures and service level agreements on a regular basis to ensure best practice and performance is achieved.

·         To work with Area Housing Managers to achieve a consistent approach to housing management policy and procedure.

Proven managerial experience



Proven experience of working with vulnerable people, Proven experience in Housing, Knowledge of Funding & Commissioning. Knowledge of relevant legislation.





Educated to A Level Standard, Good general education - 5 GCSE's or equivalent


Relevant professional qualification



Willing to pass on knowledge and develop others, Willing to attend all appropriate training, Self motivated but able to function as part of a team





Positively liaising with agencies to ensure high standards of service, Ability to show respect, diplomacy, tact, discretion and uphold confidentiality








Personal Circumstances


Full driving license and use of own vehicle


Able to attend evening meetings as required
